Albert Irving Maths Award - 2016 Winner
THE WINNER OF THE ALBERT IRVING AWARD FOR PROGRESS IN MATHS IS AIDEN SEABORN IN YR6 - CONGRATULATIONS AIDEN!
Mr Albert Irving was a former pupil at Marlborough Road Primary School, sadly he passed away in 2013. Albert excelled in maths and went on to have a very successful career in accountancy. His daughter, Mrs Pat Hughes contacted school and visited us last year. She looked around the school with Mrs Cookson and said how different it would have been when her dad was a pupil. She also said how much she enjoyed her visit.
Five years ago Mrs Hughes made a donation to Marlborough Road Academy in memory of her father. At the end of each academic year, for five years, the child who makes the most progress between Key Stage One and Key Stage Two in mathematics will receive the 'Albert Irving Award' for progress in maths. There will also be an amount donated to school which will be spent on maths resources and equipment which will benefit all the children in school.
We would like to thank Mrs Hughes for her very generous donation to Marlborough Road Academy in memory of her father. We would also like to thank her for visiting us at the leavers assembly this year to present the award to Aiden.
